Battle of Sudoku: A Multiplayer Sudoku Showdown!
Love Sudoku? Want to test your skills against others? Battle of Sudoku is a multiplayer version where you compete against individual players or teams. The goal remains the classic Sudoku challenge: fill a 9x9 grid with digits so each row, column, and 3x3 subgrid contains all numbers from 1 to 9.
Before you begin, adjust the difficulty (1-6, 1 being easiest, 6 hardest) in the game options. This sets the initial numbers, providing a shared starting point for all players. Everyone receives the same puzzle.
Game Modes:
The game offers two modes, selectable in the options:
- Show Opponent's Correct Numbers: Each correctly placed number is visible to all players. Only the first player to correctly place a number earns points for that specific number.
- Hide Opponent's Correct Numbers: Players cannot see each other's correct entries, allowing for multiple players to earn points for the same number.
Time-Outs and Scoring:
Incorrect entries result in a time-out (default 30 seconds, adjustable in options). Correct entries earn points, with higher difficulty levels awarding more points per correct number. Incorrect entries deduct half the points earned for a correct entry.
Winning the Game:
The game ends when the puzzle is solved. In the "Show Opponent's Correct Numbers" mode, the player with the highest score wins. If this option is disabled, the game ends when one player solves the puzzle, though this doesn't grant extra points; other players can still win based on fewer mistakes.
Team Play:
Team play allows two teams to compete. Join a team (1 or 2) upon entering a game. At least two players per team are required. Points are added to the team's total score, and notes/filled colors are shared within the team, enabling collaborative strategies.
Solving Tools:
A toolbar under the puzzle provides helpful tools:
- Pen Tool: Add notes (mini-numbers) to squares. Selecting a number already present removes it.
- Fill Mode: Change the background color of squares.
