Bring Large Dung Pods

Hirabami are a challenging group to tackle in Monster Hunter Wilds. Unlike many monsters that prefer solitude, Hirabami thrive in packs, complicating the fight. To manage this, equip yourself with Large Dung Pods. These handy tools can disperse the group, allowing you to focus on defeating them one at a time.

Use Heavy Slicing Pod Slinger Ammo

Hirabami's penchant for staying airborne can be particularly vexing for melee weapon users. Ranged weapon users, such as those wielding Bows, will have an easier time. To ground these aerial foes, utilize Heavy Slicing Pod Slinger ammo. If you're out of ammo, target Hirabami's tail; severing it will yield a Tail Claw Shard, which converts into the needed ammo.

Utilize Environmental Traps

The Iceshard Cliffs are dotted with environmental traps that can turn the tide of battle. You'll find Ice Spikes, Floating Rubble, and Brittle Ice Pillars. Dropping one of these on Hirabami can stun and inflict significant damage, giving you a crucial advantage.

Aim for the Head

The head is Hirabami's weak spot, but reaching it can be tricky due to their habit of staying aloft. Ranged attackers can easily target this area, while melee fighters should strike at the neck when the monster descends. Avoid the torso; it's heavily armored and less effective to hit.

Watch the Tail

Hirabami's erratic movements make them unpredictable. They'll attempt to bite, spit, or dive-bomb you from the sky. Keep an eye on their head to anticipate these attacks and stay mobile. However, don't overlook the tail—it can swing like a hammer, aiming to crush you.

To capture a Hirabami, first, reduce its health to 20% or less. You'll know you're close when a skull icon appears next to the monster icon on your mini-map. At this point, set up either a Pitfall Trap or a Shock Trap. Once the Hirabami is immobilized, swiftly use a Tranquilizer to knock it out. You have only a brief window before it escapes. Capturing the Hirabami will end the fight, granting you standard rewards but potentially reducing your chances of obtaining extra materials from weak spot hits.

That's all you need to know to triumph over and capture Hirabami in Monster Hunter Wilds. Don't forget to bring Large Dung Pods or use the SOS feature to ease the battle.

Monster Hunter Wilds is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
