Capcom recently held a Spotlight and Monster Hunter Wilds Showcase, revealing significant updates for several titles. Key announcements include new details for Onimusha: Way of the Sword, a remaster of Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny, a release date for Capcom Fighting Collection 2, and extensive information on Monster Hunter Wilds.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword – A 2026 Release
The upcoming Onimusha: Way of the Sword, slated for a 2026 release, promises compelling characters, a new protagonist, and engaging enemies. The game will recreate the Edo Period setting of Kyoto, incorporating real-life locations. The developers aim for "ultimate sword fighting action" with satisfying combat. The protagonist, due to a twist of fate, wields an Oni Gauntlet, feeding it souls to defeat Genma. The challenge level will be balanced for players of all skill levels.
Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny Remaster Coming in 2025
A remastered version of the 2002 classic, Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny, is scheduled for release in 2025, bridging the gap until Onimusha: Way of the Sword's launch.
Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta 2 Details
The second Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta will feature the flagship monster, Arkveld, in an advanced quest. Other additions include a Gypceros Hunt, a training area, Private Lobbies, and Online Single Player mode. Data from the first beta can be transferred. Returning features include the Character Creator, Story Trial, and the Doshaguma hunt. Cross-play will be enabled. The beta runs:
- Thursday, February 6, 7 PM PT – Sunday, February 9, 6:59 PM PT
- Thursday, February 13, 7 PM PT – Sunday, February 16, 6:59 PM PT
Character data transfers to the full game (February 28th release), but progress won't carry over. Participants receive a special Pendant.
Monster Hunter Wilds – Iceshard Cliffs and New Monsters
The showcase also unveiled a new story trailer featuring the Iceshard Cliffs and new monsters: Rove (Wudwud), Hirabami – Leviathan, Nerscylla – Temnoceran, and Gore Magala. Further details on Arkveld were also shared.

Capcom Fighting Collection 2 launches May 16, 2025, including Capcom vs. SNK Millennium Fight 2000 Pro, Capcom vs. SNK 2: Mark of the Millennium 2001, Capcom Fighting Evolution, Street Fighter Alpha 3 Upper, Power Stone, Power Stone 2, Project Justice, and Plasma Sword: Night of Bilstein.
