Understanding Factions in Dynasty Warriors: Origins
The game unfolds in chapters. The first two chapters feature the Wanderer (your character) assisting Sun Jian, Cao Cao, and Liu Bei without committing to a specific faction. You'll participate in key events like the Yellow Turban Rebellion and the Battle of Hulao Gate.
Chapter 3 presents the crucial decision: choosing a faction. Before this point, the game provides battles to familiarize you with each warlord's style and goals.
Choosing Your Allegiance
To ally with a faction, complete a specific number of missions: three for Sun Jian, two for Liu Bei, and one for Cao Cao. Completing these unlocks a mission forcing you to choose a side. Only factions with completed mission requirements will be selectable. You can, however, complete all factions' missions before making your final choice.
Your decision is permanent. The unchosen faction becomes unavailable for the remainder of the game, preventing further sidequests and bond increases with its officers. This might impact gameplay difficulty; for example, allying with Liu Bei initially limits access to commanding officers and skill point opportunities from side quests.
Each faction offers unique missions. To experience all content, create a save file before choosing a faction and reload it to explore different paths.
