If you follow Rockstar Games on X (the Everything App formerly known as Twitter), you might have been taken aback or puzzled when they posted about the film Marching Powder and its star, Danny Dyer. The tweet read:

You might be wondering why Rockstar, with its massive following of 21 million, would promote a niche British film. And who exactly is Danny Dyer? Let's dive into it.

Who is Danny Dyer?

Daniel John Dyer, better known as Danny Dyer, hails from East London and is a household name in the UK. As Rockstar aptly described him, he's an "absolute legend." For those unfamiliar with the term in British slang, the Urban Dictionary defines a legend as:

“A person who embodies the pinnacle of all the important social aspects. Any person who is funny, reckless, original and sensitive in the right measures is likely to be nominated a legend by his associates. A person to whose persona you aspire.”

Dyer has been acting since 1993, often portraying rough-and-tumble working-class characters. This aligns with his public image as someone who's outspoken on social and governmental issues, adopting a "tough uncle" persona. For instance, in 2010, he advised a Zoo magazine reader going through a breakup to go "on a rampage [drinking session] with the boys."

Dyer is also known for his entertaining social media presence, like this memorable post:

Roll on bonfire night..........it's gonna get strapped to a great big massive fuck off Rocket so it can join the other Furbys in the sky...

How is Danny Dyer Connected to Rockstar?

If you're a fan of the Grand Theft Auto series but unfamiliar with Dyer, you've likely heard his voice in the games. He voiced Kent Paul in GTA: Vice City, managing the Scottish rock band Love Fist, and reprised his role in GTA: San Andreas, where Kent managed the Gurning Chimps and later produced for rapper Madd Dogg.

Dyer's deeper connection to Rockstar stems from his role in the 2004 British film The Football Factory, directed by Nick Love and produced by Rockstar Games. This film explored themes of football hooliganism, heavy drinking, and a gritty British sense of humor.

Marching Powder, releasing this week in the UK and Ireland, reunites Dyer with Nick Love. Although not a sequel to The Football Factory, it revisits similar themes. Rockstar's post on X seems to be a show of support for Dyer and Love, despite not being involved in the production of Marching Powder.

Is Vice City's Kent Paul Returning for GTA 6?

The short answer is, we don't know. And Rockstar's social media post about Marching Powder doesn't provide any clues about GTA 6. However, it's fun to speculate. Could Kent Paul make an appearance in Grand Theft Auto 6?

It's worth noting that the GTA series is divided into two distinct eras: the 3D era (games on PS2 and PSP) and the HD era (from GTA 4 onwards). These are considered separate universes with no direct storyline continuity between them. That's why GTA 5's Los Santos differs from San Andreas' version, and why characters from the PS2-era games aren't mentioned in GTA 4 and 5.

Despite this separation, there are some connections. For example, Grove Street from San Andreas appears in GTA 5, and various gangs from the 3D universe are present in the HD universe, including the Ballas. Lazlo, the infamous radio host, also spans both eras. Notably, Kent Paul has his name on the Vinewood Walk of Fame.

While it's possible Kent Paul could return in GTA 6, the Marching Powder post on X doesn't offer any confirmation. The speculation continues, but for now, we'll have to wait and see.
