Deltarune Chapter 4 is nearing completion, but the release date remains elusive. Toby Fox, the game's creator, recently provided an update in his newsletter, revealing the progress and challenges ahead.

Fox confirmed the simultaneous release of Chapters 3 and 4 for PC, Switch, and PS4, as announced in his Halloween 2023 newsletter. However, while Chapter 4 is largely playable, needing only polish, the release is still some time away. The team is currently focused on refining the game, including balancing battles, enhancing visuals, and improving cutscenes and ending sequences.

The multi-platform and multilingual release presents significant challenges, especially given this is the first major paid release since Undertale. Fox highlighted several crucial tasks: testing new features, finalizing PC and console versions, Japanese localization, and rigorous bug testing.

Chapter 3 development is complete (as per Fox's February newsletter), and work on Chapter 5 has even begun. The latest newsletter offered tantalizing glimpses of upcoming content: a snippet of dialogue between Ralsei and Rouxls Kaard, a character description for Elnina, and a new item, the GingerGuard. Fox confirmed that Chapters 3 and 4 combined will be longer than Chapters 1 and 2.
