Crytek, a renowned name in the gaming industry, has recently announced a significant restructuring effort, which includes laying off about 60 employees. This decision impacts roughly 15% of their total workforce of 400, reflecting the financial challenges the company is currently navigating.
In conjunction with this announcement, Crytek revealed a temporary halt in the development of the eagerly awaited next Crysis title. This pause was decided in the third quarter of 2024, as the studio shifts its focus entirely to the development of Hunt: Showdown 1896. The company had considered reallocating staff from the Crysis project to bolster ongoing efforts, but ultimately found this approach unfeasible. Despite attempts to cut costs through other means, Crytek determined that layoffs were inevitable.

Looking ahead, Crytek's primary focus will be on expanding the content for Hunt: Showdown 1896. Meanwhile, fans of the Crysis series will have to wait longer as the new installment has been indefinitely delayed. Crytek has committed to supporting the employees affected by the layoffs with severance packages and career transition assistance.
Despite these challenges, Crytek remains hopeful about its future. The company pledges to continue enhancing Hunt: Showdown 1896 and pushing forward with advancements in its CRYENGINE technology.
