Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii: A Blend of Manly Drama and Comedic Chaos
RGG Studio promises a unique blend of serious storytelling and over-the-top humor in their upcoming title, Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii. This latest installment features a "more serious" Goro Majima, according to director Masayoshi Yokoyama, particularly at the story's outset.
However, the signature Like a Dragon humor isn't entirely absent. Producer Ryosuke Horii clarifies that while the game centers on a "manly drama" showcasing Majima's pursuit of his goals and the bonds he forms, "the goofing off isn't the main point." The narrative will be a "straightforward tale about a passionate man," punctuated by moments of absurdity.
Horii emphasizes Majima's unique qualities, distinct from series protagonist Kazuma Kiryu, justifying the heightened reality and varied action sequences. The team aimed for a balance between the pirate setting, Majima's personality, and the core Like a Dragon experience, a challenge Horii acknowledges. The result promises a thrilling mix of realism and extravagance, avoiding predictability.
To celebrate the launch, RGG Studio is hosting Majima's Maji Festival across six Japanese cities. The tour concludes in Nagoya (January 18th) and Tokyo (January 25th).
Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii launches on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One on February 21st. This new adventure promises exciting action, naval combat, a vibrant cast, and a compelling story.
