Earth vs. Mars Announced by Company of Heroes Developer Relic Entertainment

by Mia Feb 21,2025

Relic Entertainment, the studio behind Company of Heroes, is branching out with a new turn-based strategy game: Earth vs. Mars. This smaller-scale title, launching this Summer on PC via Steam, pits players against a Martian invasion. The unique twist? Players utilize the Splice-O-Tron to create bizarre and powerful hybrid creatures – think Squirrel-Cows, Human-Rhinos, and Cheetah-Flies – to defend Earth. Gameplay draws inspiration from the classic Nintendo DS game, Advance Wars.

According to Relic, Martians have been secretly harvesting human and animal atomic essence for decades. Now, they've launched a full-scale invasion, and Earth's resistance needs commanders. Players will lead Earth's forces against advanced Martian weaponry, including saucers, grav-tanks, and elite alien warriors.

Earth vs. Mars boasts a 30+ mission single-player campaign, online multiplayer with both factions playable, a VS Mode for AI challenges, and a map editor.

Relic CEO Justin Dowdeswell stated, "We're thrilled to put a Relic spin on the Advance Wars formula, incorporating our signature style while recalling elements from our earlier games." He further explained Relic's new strategy: "Alongside our established RTS titles, we'll be developing smaller, indie-style games to explore new genres, experiment creatively, and increase our release frequency."
