Elden Ring Nightreign Ditches Poisonous Swamps

by Audrey Apr 03,2025

In the upcoming cooperative action game *Elden Ring Nightreign*, fans will notice a significant change: the absence of the notorious poisonous swamps, a hallmark of From Software games. This news was revealed by the project's product manager, Yasuhiro Kitao, during a recent discussion with journalists. Although a similar location was showcased in the *Elden Ring Nightreign* trailer, Kitao clarified that it represents a different area entirely. The reason behind the exclusion of these swamps? The absence of Hidetaka Miyazaki, the head of From Software, who is a well-known enthusiast of swamp environments. It's due to Miyazaki's influence that such areas have been a staple in both *Elden Ring* and the *Dark Souls* series. However, Miyazaki did not participate in the development of *Elden Ring Nightreign*.

There's also exciting news for fans hoping for more cooperative play options. While *Elden Ring Nightreign* has been announced with one-player and three-player modes, there's a possibility that a two-player mode might be added. Initially, the developers excluded a two-player mode due to content balancing challenges, but From Software is currently considering its inclusion. No final decision has been made yet, so fans will need to stay tuned for updates.

Mark your calendars—*Elden Ring Nightreign* is set to launch on May 30, 2025, and will be available on PC as well as two generations of consoles. Get ready for a fresh take on the beloved *Elden Ring* universe, free from the dreaded swamps but potentially richer in cooperative gameplay.
