Pocket Gamer recently discovered Dynabytes' Fantasma at Gamescom Latam – a multiplayer augmented reality (AR) GPS adventure game. The game's recent update adds Japanese, Korean, Malay, and Portuguese language support, with German, Italian, and Spanish coming soon.
Fantasma casts players as fighters against mischievous creatures plaguing the world. Players use portable electromagnetic fields as bait to lure these paranormal entities, then battle them in AR by aiming and tapping on their phone screens. Defeated creatures are captured in special bottles.
Fantasmas appear based on real-world location, encouraging exploration. Deployable sensors increase the detection range, bringing creatures closer. Cooperative play with other players is also available.
Fantasma is free-to-play (with in-app purchases) and available now on the App Store and Google Play. For fans of AR games, Pocket Gamer also suggests checking out their list of the best AR games for iOS.
