The developers of the upcoming life simulation game, inZOI, addressed fan inquiries regarding the game's depiction of intimate relationships. When questioned about the inclusion of sexual content, the assistant director provided an ambiguous response, avoiding the explicit term "sex," leaving players uncertain about the specifics.
Essentially, the response implied that intimate interactions occur; if male and female ZOIs retire to bed together, procreation is implied – however, the visual representation is left to the player's interpretation.
The implication is there, but not to the extent many anticipated.
Consequently, the level of censorship regarding intimacy in inZOI remains unclear. It's uncertain whether it will mirror the approach used in The Sims series or employ a novel method.
The developers also explained the decision to depict ZOIs showering in towels instead of using pixelated censorship. They cited two reasons: this approach is more suitable for the game's cartoonish art style, while pixelation in a realistic style can appear overly sexualized; and a technical issue where pixelation wouldn't correctly reflect in mirrors.
The game's rating provides further context. inZOI has received a T rating from the ESRB (for teens) and is expected to receive a PEGI 12 rating. These ratings align with those given to The Sims 4, offering clues about the level of mature content included.
