Rey Dau is the first dragon monster you'll encounter in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. This creature wields the lightning element, rendering it immune to lightning-based attacks. However, it's particularly vulnerable to water and ice. The most effective target is its head, boasting a 4-star weakness. The wings are also a good spot to attack, with a 3-star weakness.
Avoid targeting its torso, as it's heavily armored. If hitting the head proves challenging, aim for the tail instead. The legs are less ideal due to their strong protection. For status ailments, all are effective except Stun and Paralysis, as the dragon's lightning element makes these ineffective.
Use a Flash Pod
A key strategy to swiftly defeat Rey Dau is deploying a Flash Pod. This tool temporarily stuns the monster, providing a window to land critical hits. When Rey Dau unleashes its lightning attack, target its horn immediately for significant damage. Engage Focus Mode to spot the glowing red horns for precise strikes.
Wear Element-Resistant Gear
To enhance your survivability, equip gear that increases your resistance to elements. The Hope Armor set, with its Divine Blessing skill, reduces incoming damage and offers resistance to Lightning and Fire. Consider consuming a meal that boosts your elemental resistance as well.
If dodging proves difficult, position yourself near Rey Dau's legs in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. The monster primarily attacks in front and behind, making the leg area a safer spot to avoid its strikes.
Pay Attention to the Environment
Throughout the battle, Rey Dau will move between different locations. In the open plains, utilize Vine Traps found on lone trees to briefly stun the monster. Be cautious when the dragon returns to its nest, as it can follow up with a devastating lightning attack that can stun you. Exercise patience and avoid rushing in to prevent being zapped.

How to Capture Rey Dau in Monster Hunter Wilds
In addition to defeating Rey Dau, you can earn rewards by capturing it in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. To capture the dragon, reduce its health until it's near death. Look for the skull icon near the monster's icon on the mini-map, signaling it's time to set a trap.
Given Rey Dau's lightning nature, avoid using Shock Traps. Instead, opt for a Pitfall Trap for a successful capture. Follow up quickly with a Tranquilizer to prevent the dragon from escaping. Timing is crucial, so be prepared to act swiftly.
