In an exhilarating 24-hour marathon on November 26, 2024, the company opened an astonishing 20,000 cards, celebrating the release of the Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks expansion. This remarkable feat was achieved with the help of popular internet personalities, showcasing the community spirit and excitement surrounding Pokémon TCG.
The Longest Unboxing Livestream to Date
The Pokémon Company shattered the previous record for the longest unboxing livestream, a category in the Guinness World Records, with this event. Hosted on Pokémon’s Twitch channel, the marathon featured well-known figures in the Pokémon community, including Serebii’s Joe Merrick, PokeGirl Ranch, and Mayplaystv. Together, they opened 1,500 booster packs and other Pokémon products, culminating in an estimated collection of over 20,000 cards.
Peter Murphy, Senior Director of Marketing at The Pokémon Company International, expressed his pride in this achievement, stating, “It’s been an incredible 24 hours of pack opening, and we’re thrilled to have achieved such an ambitious GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title alongside an amazing team of content creators.”
The excitement doesn’t end there. Pokémon’s Official Press website hinted at more product giveaways through content creators' channels in the coming weeks. Additionally, the cards opened during the livestream will be compiled into binders and donated to charities, including Barnardo’s in the UK, spreading holiday cheer and supporting good causes.

The Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks expansion, released on November 8, 2024, transports fans to the Terarium, a central location from Pokémon SV’s The Indigo Disk: DLC Part 2.
