Harrison Ford: 'Indiana Jones Proves AI Isn't Needed to Capture My Soul'

by Mila Apr 26,2025

Harrison Ford, the iconic actor behind the character Indiana Jones, recently shared his thoughts on Troy Baker's portrayal of Indy in the video game "Indiana Jones and the Great Circle." In an interview with The Wall Street Journal Magazine, Ford expressed his satisfaction with Baker's performance, humorously stating, "You don’t need artificial intelligence to steal my soul. You can already do it for nickels and dimes with good ideas and talent. He did a brilliant job, and it didn’t take AI to do it."

Released in December, "Indiana Jones and the Great Circle" is described as an "authentic" yet possibly non-canonical addition to the storied franchise. This comes on the heels of the 2023 film "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny," which did not fare well with audiences. In contrast, the game has been well-received, prompting speculation that the franchise's creators might consider focusing more on this new direction rather than bringing Ford back to reprise his role.

Ford, known for his roles in "Star Wars," "Indiana Jones," and upcoming projects in the Marvel universe, joins a chorus of creatives who have voiced concerns about the use of AI in media. Notable figures like Tim Burton, who finds AI-generated art "very disturbing," and Nicolas Cage, who considers it a "dead end," share similar sentiments. Additionally, voice actors such as Ned Luke from "Grand Theft Auto 5" and Doug Cockle from "The Witcher" have spoken out against AI, with Luke criticizing a chatbot that mimicked his voice and Cockle warning that while AI is "inevitable," it's also "dangerous" and could rob voice actors of their income.
