MachineGames confirms: No harm will come to canines in the upcoming Indiana Jones and the Great Circle! This decision marks a significant departure from the developer's previous titles, known for their violent depictions of animals.
A Family-Friendly Approach
Creative Director Jens Andersson explained to IGN that the decision stems from the family-friendly nature of the Indiana Jones franchise. While the game features intense action sequences and combat against human enemies, interactions with dogs will be non-lethal. Instead of harming them, Indy will focus on scaring them away.
Andersson stated, "Indiana Jones is a dog person," highlighting the developer's commitment to aligning the gameplay with the character's personality. This contrasts sharply with games like Wolfenstein, where animal combat was a standard feature.
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle launches December 9th on Xbox Series X|S and PC, with a PS5 release slated for Spring 2025. The game, set in 1937, follows Indy's pursuit of stolen artifacts, leading him on a globe-trotting adventure. His trusty whip will be used for both traversal and combat, but thankfully, not against our four-legged friends. Rest assured, dog lovers, no canine will be harmed in this thrilling adventure!
