In a recent interview with IGN, Konami producer Noriaki Okamura alluded to the possibility of MGS Master Collection Vol. 2 including a remake of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (MGS4) alongside next-gen console ports. When queried about bringing the popular 2008 title to current platforms, such as the PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, Okamura acknowledged the substantial excitement and conjecture surrounding the game, but remained noncommittal about specific plans.

"We certainly recognize this situation with MGS4," Okamura told IGN. "Regrettably, we can't divulge much currently with Vol. 1 encompassing MGS 1-3... you can likely infer! Presently, we are internally deliberating the series' future direction. Apologies, we can't disclose anything at present. But stay tuned!"

Many enthusiasts have wondered if the game, which has remained exclusive to the PS3 since its launch, could be included in a potential Master Collection Vol. 2. Given last year's release of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 containing the remastered versions of the series' first three games on next-gen platforms including the PC and Switch, an MGS4 PS5 port and the like might see the light of day.

Rumors of the MGS4 remake gained momentum last year, when reports noted planned placeholder buttons for MGS4, MGS5, and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker appearing on Konami's official Metal Gear Solid timeline page. IGN further reported that these three titles are likely to be part of the unannounced Master Collection Vol. 2. However, Konami has yet to officially confirm this.

Adding to the conjecture, Solid Snake English voice actor David Hayter hinted on social media last November at his involvement in something seemingly related to MGS4, sparking further discussion within the community. As of now, Konami has not revealed the contents, nor any concrete plans, for a highly anticipated MGS4 remake in Master Collection Vol. 2.
