Marvel Rivals Sets February Release Date for The Thing and Human Torch

by Leo Feb 21,2025

The Fantastic Four's roster in Marvel Rivals expands on February 21, 2025, with the arrival of The Thing and Human Torch as playable characters. This coincides with a Season 1.5 update, promising significant balance adjustments, as detailed in a recent developer blog post.

Mister Fantastic and the Invisible Woman debuted last month, introducing unique gameplay mechanics. Reed Richards' elastic powers allow for unconventional combat, while Sue Storm's invisibility adds a strategic layer. The Thing and Human Torch are expected to similarly impact the game's meta, though specific abilities remain undisclosed.

The update also includes a rank reset for Ranked players. A four-division demotion will occur on February 21st (e.g., Diamond I becomes Platinum II). Future full season updates will feature a six-division drop, while mid-season updates will maintain the four-division drop. NetEase plans to adjust this system based on player feedback.

Positive changes include new cosmetic rewards for Gold-ranked players and the introduction of Crests of Honor for top performers (Grandmaster, Celestial, Eternity, and One Above All – top 500).

Creative director Guangyun Chen previously confirmed a new playable character every six weeks. While rumors point towards Blade as the next addition, Marvel Rivals' future roster remains largely unannounced.

This update will undoubtedly reshape the game's competitive landscape, following the significant impact of the initial Season 1 patch and the community discussion surrounding potential bot issues.
