Player First Games has announced that MultiVersus Season 5 will be its last, bringing the Warner Bros. platform fighter to a close on May 30, 2025, at 9 a.m. PST. The studio detailed the discontinuation of support in a blog post on their website. Launched on May 28, 2024, MultiVersus will enter its final season, Season 5, on February 4th, concluding its run in May 2025. Online play will end at that time, but players will retain access to all earned and purchased content offline via local and training modes.
The MultiVersus team expressed gratitude for player support: “Most importantly, we want to thank every player and person who has ever played or supported MultiVersus. All of us on the Player First Games and Warner Bros. Games teams have poured our heart and soul into this game. We will be forever grateful for the incredible support of the MultiVersus community throughout this journey.”

Real-money transactions are now unavailable, although Gleamium and character tokens can be used to access in-game content until May 30th. MultiVersus will be delisted from the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Steam, and Epic Games Store at the same time.
This closure follows reports of MultiVersus underperforming significantly for Warner Bros. Discovery, resulting in a substantial $100 million writedown, contributing to a $300 million total writedown for the games sector, alongside the launch of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. This financial setback also coincided with the departure of Warner Bros. Games head David Haddad.
“We took another $100 million plus impairment due to the underperforming releases, primarily MultiVersus this quarter, bringing total writedown year-to-date to over $300 million in our games business, a key factor in this year’s studio profit decline,” stated chief financial officer Gunnar Wiedenfels during a November financial call.
Despite the shutdown, Season 5 will feature new content, including playable characters Lola Bunny and Aquaman. Lola Bunny will be unlockable via a daily calendar reward, while Aquaman will be available through the battle pass, both launching next week.
