Obtaining Beast Hides in NieR: Automata
Beast Hides are obtained by defeating wildlife like moose and boar. These animals spawn randomly in specific map areas, generally avoiding players and nearby robots. Their white icons on the mini-map distinguish them from the black icons of machines. Efficient farming is challenging due to their infrequent spawns.
Moose and boar are found only in the ruined city and forest zones. Their reaction to attacks depends on your level relative to theirs; higher-level animals might flee or aggressively engage. Wildlife boasts substantial health, making early-game encounters with similarly leveled or higher-level animals difficult.
Using Animal Bait can lure wildlife, simplifying their defeat.
Since wildlife doesn't respawn continuously during the main storyline, you'll need to hunt them during exploration. Respawn mechanics for wildlife and machines are similar:
