Guns Undarkness: A Stealth-Action JRPG Demo Coming Soon
Prepare for the release of a free demo for Guns Undarkness during the upcoming Steam Next Fest! This exciting project unites the talents of Shoji Meguro (composer for the Persona and Metaphor: ReFantazio series), Ilya Kuvshinov (character artist known for Ghost in the Shell), and rapper Lotus Juice (renowned for his work on Persona 3).
Meguro, a veteran composer at Atlus since 1995, transitioned to indie game development in 2021 while continuing his work with Atlus. Guns Undarkness, initially unveiled at Indie Live Expo Winter 2021 and successfully funded via Kickstarter in 2022, is a sci-fi stealth-action JRPG published by Kodansha Game Creators Lab.
The demo, launching February 24th, 2025, offers approximately 20 minutes of gameplay, covering tutorials on controls, combat, weapons, and early-game strategies. Early Access on PC is slated for Spring 2025, promising around 10 hours of gameplay. A precise release date remains unannounced.
Metal Gear Solid and Persona Inspired Gameplay
Guns Undarkness blends turn-based tactical combat with stealth mechanics, drawing inspiration from Metal Gear Solid and the Persona series. Set in a dystopian 2045, players assume the role of a private military company operative, undertaking missions with allies to unravel global mysteries and avert humanity's demise.
Stealth sections allow for strategic movement and evasion, providing combat advantages when engaging enemies undetected. Turn-based battles utilize various firearms and character commands for victory. Don't miss the upcoming demo!
