Saber Interactive has firmly stated that all of its previously announced projects remain in active development, despite the lack of updates on highly anticipated titles like the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR) remake. Following the recent reveal of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3, Saber's Chief Creative Officer, Tim Willits, took to Twitter to reassure fans that the studio is diligently working on every game it has announced.
"Saber Interactive stands as one of the largest independent developers globally," Willits emphasized. "We're actively developing numerous games across various genres. Rest assured, everything we've mentioned is still in the works. We'll provide updates on our upcoming titles as soon as we have exciting news to share."
The most prominent example of Willits' assurance is the KOTOR remake, a project shrouded in mystery since its announcement in 2021. The game has undergone several transitions, including changes in development teams, and despite these challenges, it has yet to see the light of day. In April 2024, Saber Interactive's CEO, Matthew Karch, confirmed that the KOTOR project was taken with them during their separation from Embracer Group, and it remains in active development. "It's clear and it's obvious that we're working on this," Karch stated at the time. "It's been in the press numerous times. What I will say is that the game is alive and well, and we're dedicated to making sure we exceed consumer expectations."
Willits' recent statement echoes Karch's earlier comments, reaffirming their commitment to the KOTOR remake. However, fans are still left without any new visuals or detailed updates beyond the initial announcement trailer.
Beyond the KOTOR remake, Saber Interactive has a robust lineup of projects in development. Titles such as John Carpenter's Toxic Commando and Jurassic Park Survival are slated for a 2025 release, though specific dates remain undisclosed. Additionally, the studio is crafting a new Turok game and an untitled project based on Avatar: The Last Airbender. The latest addition to their portfolio is Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3.
