YouTube Star Accused in Abduction

Summary

  • Popular YouTuber Corey Pritchett faces two counts of aggravated kidnapping and has left the US.
  • Pritchett posted a video from abroad, making light of the charges and his flight.
  • His potential return to the US and the case's resolution remain unknown.

YouTube personality Corey Pritchett, known for his engaging content, is facing serious accusations. He's been charged with two counts of aggravated kidnapping, prompting his departure from the country shortly after the charges were filed, leaving his followers shocked and concerned.

Pritchett, whose YouTube channels "CoreySSG" and "CoreySSG Live" boast millions of subscribers, gained popularity through vlogs, challenges, and comedic skits. One video, "LET’S HAVE A BABY PRANK," has amassed over 12 million views. His online persona, however, is now overshadowed by these serious allegations.

The alleged kidnapping incident occurred on November 24, 2024, in southwest Houston. According to reports from ABC13, Pritchett allegedly met two women (ages 19 and 20) at a gym, engaging in activities before allegedly threatening them at gunpoint, driving them at high speed on I-10, and confiscating their phones. He reportedly told them he intended to kill them, expressing anxiety about being pursued and mentioning previous accusations of arson.

Pritchett's Flight and Mocking Video

After stopping, Pritchett allegedly allowed the women to escape. They walked for over an hour before finding help and contacting authorities. While charged on December 26, 2024, Pritchett had already fled to Doha, Qatar, on December 9th, using a one-way ticket, and is now believed to be in Dubai. From there, he posted a video mocking the warrants and his situation, claiming to be "on the run." This contrasts with the serious nature of the charges and the trauma experienced by the alleged victims. The case also draws parallels to other high-profile incidents involving online personalities, such as the unrelated case of former streamer Johnny Somali facing potential charges in South Korea.

The future of this case remains uncertain. Whether Pritchett will return to the US to face justice is unknown. The situation highlights the unpredictable nature of online fame and the potential consequences of actions, contrasting with the 2023 kidnapping and subsequent release of YouTuber YourFellowArab in Haiti, who later documented his ordeal.
