Bandai Namco is gearing up for another exciting venture into the world of Digimon with the announcement of Digimon Alysion, a digital adaptation of the popular Digimon Card Game. This free-to-play mobile game is set to launch on both Android and iOS platforms, though an exact release date has yet to be disclosed.
The official announcement came during Digimon Con 2025, held on March 19th. Alongside this exciting news, Bandai Namco revealed that Digimon Liberator would continue with a new arc in April 2025. The event also included a special video celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Digimon anime, as well as the introduction of a new project, Digimon Adventure: Beyond. Fans can also look forward to a new RPG, Digimon Story: Time Stranger, which will be available on consoles and PC.
Digimon Alysion: More Than Just a Card Game
Digimon Alysion isn't merely a digital replica of the physical Digimon Card Game. It introduces a new element called 'DigiAly' cards, which are exclusive to this version, alongside the traditional cards. Bandai Namco is also expanding the universe with new Digimon and characters.
Interestingly, the character lineup on the website primarily features an all-female cast, which marks a unique direction for a digital card game. This choice has sparked some skepticism among fans who were hoping for a more faithful adaptation of the physical game.
This isn't Bandai Namco's first foray into Digimon mobile gaming, and their past attempts have not been particularly successful. With two previous failures, there's a cautious optimism surrounding the potential success of Digimon Alysion.
Despite these concerns, I'm eagerly anticipating the game. A closed beta test is currently in the works, though specifics are still under wraps. For more information, you can visit their official website or follow their X account.
