The iconic Master Chief, star of the Halo franchise and a popular Fortnite skin, recently returned to the item shop after a two-year hiatus, much to the delight of fans. However, a controversy quickly arose concerning the Matte Black style originally offered exclusively to Xbox Series S|X players.
Initially advertised as perpetually available, the sudden announcement of its removal sparked considerable backlash. Some players even considered legal action, threatening a class-action lawsuit. However, Epic Games swiftly reversed its decision within 24 hours.
The Matte Black style is now available to all Master Chief skin owners, provided they play at least one game on an Xbox Series S|X console. This reversal appears to be the most sensible course of action, especially given the holiday season and the generally positive festive atmosphere. The initial decision to remove the style was clearly a misstep.
