Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 5 star Ned Luke fuels anticipation for GTA 6, predicting blockbuster sales and assuring fans the wait will be worthwhile. This article explores the hype surrounding GTA 6's development and projected success.
Rockstar Games' Unpredictable Approach to GTA 6
GTA 6's Projected $1.3 Billion Day-One Revenue
Ned Luke, the voice behind Michael De Santa in GTA 5, boldly predicts GTA 6 will generate a staggering $1.3 billion in its first 24 hours. In a recent interview with Fall Damage, Luke expressed his confidence in the game's potential, highlighting Rockstar Games' knack for the unexpected.
Luke emphasized patience, assuring fans, "It's going to be worth the wait. From what I've seen, it's going to be amazing." He referenced GTA 5's impressive $800 million debut in 2013, suggesting GTA 6 will significantly surpass that record. Market research firm DFC Intelligence forecasts over 40 million copies sold and $3.2 billion in first-year revenue, with a billion dollars attributed to pre-orders alone.
The Return of GTA 5 Characters in GTA 6?
Luke offered insight into the possibility of GTA 5 characters appearing in GTA Online and potentially GTA 6. He noted Michael's absence from GTA Online, contrasting with Trevor and Franklin's appearances.
Luke hinted at Michael's possible inclusion in a future GTA Online DLC or even GTA 6 itself. While Steven Ogg (Trevor) previously suggested a "passing the torch" scenario involving Trevor's demise in ScreenRant (January 2025), Luke remained coy: "Maybe [Michael, Franklin, and Trevor will be] in GTA 6, like [its online mode]. Maybe. Maybe not." He acknowledged Rockstar's tight-lipped nature and the potential repercussions of revealing too much. Despite the actors' enthusiasm, official confirmation remains elusive.
GTA 6: In the Testing Phase?
Former Rockstar animator Mike York, in a since-deleted interview with Kiwi Talkz, indicated GTA 6 is likely undergoing internal testing. He highlighted the game's unique unpredictability, stating, "There are a lot of things that can happen that you don't really think about until some random kid in his basement tries it."
York believes extensive in-house testing is underway, suggesting the game is playable and may have already undergone multiple test runs. He added, "They're probably still putting in a little work and throwing in little extras."
Following the December 2023 trailer, Rockstar Games has remained silent. While Take-Two Interactive's 2024 financial report suggested a Fall 2025 release, no official date has been confirmed.
