HBO executive Francesca Orsi hints that the critically acclaimed The Last of Us series will span four seasons. While emphasizing that no formal plan is finalized, Orsi stated to Deadline that a four-season run is the current projection: "It's looking like this season and then two more seasons after this, and we're done."
Regarding Season 2, premiering in April 2025, Orsi teased intriguing new factions: "There's certain elements in terms of the various factions that are competing for survival that reveal themselves as a really intriguing survivalist group, and I think they just have a quality to them that feels distinct in how they present it… There’s a certain way [the show] is presenting them in wardrobe and makeup that feels really different than the average person."

Catch up on Season 1 before Season 2 premieres in April! Unlike Season 1, which adapted the first game, Season 2 will expand upon The Last of Us Part II, spanning multiple episodes with a "natural breakpoint" after seven episodes.
Season 2 introduces several new cast members, including Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Danny Ramirez as Manny, and Tati Gabrielle as Mel. Catherine O'Hara's role remains a mystery.
IGN's review of Season 1 awarded the show a 9/10, praising it as "a stunning adaptation that should thrill newcomers and enrich those already familiar with Joel and Ellie's journey alike."
