Honor of Kings Global Introduces Ban&Pick Format

Honor of Kings Unveils Major Esports Plans for 2025

Following its global launch, Honor of Kings is making waves in 2025. Key announcements include the inaugural Philippines Invitational (February 21st - March 1st) and, most significantly, the global adoption of a ban & pick format for Season Three and future tournaments.

This global rollout of ban & pick adds a strategic layer to the game. Once a hero is selected by a team in a match, that hero becomes unavailable to that team for the remainder of the tournament. This restricts hero choices within a team but not across opposing teams.

The impact is substantial, particularly for players who specialize in a limited roster of heroes. This system forces teams to consider both individual mastery and overall team composition, creating exciting strategic dilemmas. Will players prioritize their comfort picks or opt for heroes best suited to the current match-up?

A Strategic Shift

While not the first MOBA to implement ban & pick, Honor of Kings' adoption of this format at a global level is noteworthy. Unlike other games where bans are pre-determined, Honor of Kings places the decision directly in the hands of individual players, fostering greater team synergy and dynamic gameplay. This change promises to elevate the competitive scene and attract new viewers.
