Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP Slashes to Sales Success

Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP: A Remaster's Resounding Success

Released late last year, Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP has exceeded 200,000 units sold, defying initial concerns about technical glitches and altered content. This sales milestone demonstrates significant player demand for the action-packed title.

Developed originally by Grasshopper Manufacture (known for the No More Heroes series), Lollipop Chainsaw is a fast-paced hack-and-slash game where players take on the role of a chainsaw-wielding cheerleader battling zombies. While the original developers didn't handle the remaster, Dragami Games delivered a visually enhanced experience with improved gameplay.

Months after its September 2024 launch across current and last-gen consoles, and PC, Dragami Games announced the game's impressive sales figures.

Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP's Triumphant Sales Figures

Players control Juliet Starling, a San Romero High cheerleader who uncovers her zombie-hunting heritage when her school is overrun. Juliet uses her trusty chainsaw to fight hordes of zombies and unique bosses, offering gameplay reminiscent of Bayonetta and other classic third-person action games.

The original 2012 release on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 achieved even greater success, selling over one million copies. The game's popularity likely stemmed from the unique collaboration between Goichi Suda and James Gunn, whose contributions to the storyline significantly enhanced the game's appeal.

While future plans for Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP remain uncertain—a sequel or additional content hasn't been confirmed—its sales success bodes well for remasters of other cult-classic games. This positive trend is further exemplified by the recent release of Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered, bringing another Grasshopper Manufacture title to modern platforms.
