Marvel Brings Back Baddie From 2008's Iron Man for MCU Vision Quest Series

by Evelyn Mar 30,2025

Exciting news for Marvel fans: a familiar villain from the very first Marvel Cinematic Universe film, Iron Man, is set to make a comeback in the upcoming Vision Quest series. Faran Tahir will reprise his role as Raza Hamidmi al-Wazar, the leader of the Afghanistan terrorist group who initially held Tony Stark captive in a cave. This character, last seen in the opening scenes of the 2008 film, will return to the MCU after nearly two decades, joining the likes of Samuel Sterns from The Incredible Hulk who is also making a comeback in Captain America: Brave New World.

In Vision Quest, Paul Bettany will star as White Vision, continuing the storyline from WandaVision. While the series has no confirmed release date yet, the return of Raza adds an intriguing layer to the plot. Initially portrayed as the head of a generic terrorist group, Raza's character was later connected to the Ten Rings organization in Phase 4 of the MCU, as subtly referenced in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. This connection suggests that Vision Quest might explore further ties to the Ten Rings, leveraging the open-ended narrative from Shang-Chi.

Just as Deadpool & Wolverine delved into the more eccentric elements of the Fox Marvel universe, Vision Quest could be aiming to revive and expand on forgotten aspects of the official MCU. Adding to the excitement, James Spader is reportedly set to return as Ultron, marking his first appearance since Avengers: Age of Ultron. While details about the series remain scarce, the inclusion of these characters promises a thrilling continuation of the MCU saga.
