Metaphor: ReFantazio features eight playable characters, including the protagonist. While Gallica is present from the start, her combat role is limited. The remaining seven party members join at specific points in the story, detailed below. Note: Reading further may reveal minor story spoilers regarding party member recruitment.
Party Member Recruitment Timeline:
Each character awakens to a unique Archetype, usable by any party member after awakening. Early party members may initially be AI-controlled.

Strohl (Warrior): Joins on June 5th during the Border Fort events, but his Archetype awakens on June 6th at the Nord Mines. Until then, he's AI-controlled.

Grius: Joins after the Border Fort events but becomes a full party member on June 6th after Strohl's Archetype awakens. Grius doesn't undergo a traditional Archetype awakening.

Hulkenberg (Knight): Begins interacting with the party on June 10th. Full party membership and Archetype awakening occur during the boss fight on June 11th.

Heismay (Thief): Appears in Martira. His Archetype awakens and he joins the party on July 4th within the town's main dungeon.

Junah (Masked Dancer): Her Archetype awakens and she joins the party on August 13th.

Eupha (Summoner): Eupha's recruitment is flexible. Completing the Dragon Temple Dungeon between August 19th and September 4th adds her to the party for the final boss fight. Her Bond quest begins after this period.

Basilio (Berserker): Awakens and joins during the Saint's Day events on September 11th. Combat use is available the following day.
