Jharrel Jerome, star of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, has confirmed that production on the highly anticipated third film, Beyond the Spider-Verse, hasn't even begun. He revealed to Decider that he hasn't recorded any lines yet, and numerous details are still "being figured out." This news shouldn't come as a complete surprise, considering a five-year gap existed between the first and second films.
"No, I wish," Jerome responded when asked about production commencing. "We haven’t started up yet. A lot of things are being figured out, but good things."

While Jerome's role in the second film was relatively small, his character is poised to become a central antagonist in the third installment. Spoiler alert for Across the Spider-Verse's ending: He portrays Miles G. Morales from Earth-42, who emerges at the film's conclusion not as Spider-Man, but as the Prowler.
This alternate Miles's journey diverged significantly from the main protagonist's. The radioactive spider that bit the original Miles instead bit this version, altering his destiny. Consequently, he never became Spider-Man, and following the death of his universe's Peter Parker, New York fell under the control of supervillains, with Miles himself becoming one.
The unfolding of this narrative, and its impact on the main Miles's story, will be central to Beyond the Spider-Verse. However, fans will have to exercise patience, as Deadline suggests a 2026 release at the earliest, or potentially as late as 2028 if the production timeline mirrors that of the previous film.
