Nintendo Halts Regular Splatoon 3 Updates

Splatoon 4 Anticipation Mounts as an Era Concludes

Nintendo has officially announced the end of regular content updates for Splatoon 3. While this marks a significant shift, the game isn't entirely abandoned. Holiday events like Splatoween and Frosty Fest will continue, along with ongoing monthly challenges, weapon adjustments, and balance patches as needed.

The official Twitter (X) announcement stated: "After 2 INK-credible years of Splatoon 3, regular updates will come to a close. Don't worry! Splatoween, Frosty Fest, Spring Fest, and Summer Nights will continue with some returning themes! Updates for weapon adjustments will be released as needed. Big Run, Eggstra Work, and Monthly Challenges will continue for the time being."

This news follows the September 16th conclusion of Splatoon 3's Grand Festival, commemorated by a video showcasing past Splatfests and the Deep Cut trio. Nintendo's farewell message was simple yet heartfelt: "Thanks for holding down the Splatlands with us, it's been a blast!"

With two years having passed since Splatoon 3's September 9th launch, and development winding down, anticipation for a sequel—Splatoon 4—is reaching fever pitch.

Some players believe they've discovered clues within the Grand Festival event, potentially hinting at the setting for the next game. Images of a large city sparked debate, with some suggesting it's a preview of Splatoon 4's location, while others believe it's simply a variation of existing environments.

Although unconfirmed, rumors of Splatoon 4 development for the Switch have circulated for months. The Grand Festival's status as the final major Splatfest further fuels these rumors. Past Splatoon Final Fests have influenced subsequent sequels, leading to speculation about a "Past, Present, or Future" theme for a potential Splatoon 4.

Until Nintendo makes an official announcement, the future of the Splatoon franchise remains a mystery, leaving fans eagerly awaiting any news.
