To achieve the best ending in *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*, completing specific tasks is crucial, and one such task is saving Sam. Knowing where to find Sam during the "Reckoning" quest is essential for those striving for perfection in the game.
Rescuing Sam During "Reckoning"
As you approach the climax of the main quest line, you'll discover that Sam is being held captive at Praguer's Camp after being captured by Brabant. To save him, you'll need to infiltrate the camp during the "Reckoning" quest, choosing between stealth or a more aggressive approach.
To move freely within the camp without raising alarms, you'll need a guard's outfit. You can acquire this by either eliminating a guard and taking his uniform or by searching through the camp's numerous chests. Once you have the outfit equipped, you can explore the camp to locate Sam without drawing suspicion.
When to Rescue Sam
After freeing Sam, it's not yet time to escort him out of the camp. He'll inform you about von Aulitz, who is also in the camp. It's advisable to deal with von Aulitz first, then secure a horse, before returning to Sam to extract him from the camp. This order of tasks is more efficient as you'll need to carry Sam to the horse.
Von Aulitz can be found in the main part of the camp. Wearing the guard outfit allows you to enter his location without resistance from the guards. Upon finding him, von Aulitz, who is already dying, requests a dignified death. Granting this request is the most honorable option, though you can also choose to kill him brutally or leave him to die slowly. Interestingly, leaving him to die aligns with achieving the best ending.
Once you've dealt with von Aulitz, return to the barn where Sam awaits. If questioned by a guard about moving Sam, simply explain that you're handling a body, which should dispel any suspicions. Exit the camp through the gates, turn right, and follow the perimeter until you reach the stables.
