Assassin's Creed Shadows' First DLC, "Claws of Awaji," Leaks on Steam
Details regarding the upcoming first DLC for Assassin's Creed Shadows, titled "Claws of Awaji," have seemingly leaked via a now-removed Steam update, according to Insider Gaming. This expansion promises significant additions to the already anticipated title, recently delayed until March 20, 2025.
Assassin's Creed Shadows, set in 16th-century feudal Japan, marks the franchise's debut in East Asia. Players will control dual protagonists, Yasuke (a Samurai) and Naoe (a Shinobi), navigating a turbulent era. The game's development has been fraught with challenges, including negative feedback regarding character design and multiple delays.
The leaked Steam information reveals "Claws of Awaji" will introduce a new region, weapon type, skills, gear, and abilities, adding over 10 hours of gameplay. The DLC, along with a bonus mission, will reportedly be available to those who pre-order the game.
This leak follows Ubisoft's recent announcement of another delay, pushing the game's release from its initially planned November 15, 2024 launch, through a February 14, 2025 postponement, and finally to its current March 20, 2025 date. The developers cited the need for further polishing and refinement.
Ubisoft's future remains uncertain amidst rumors of a potential Tencent acquisition. This speculation comes on the heels of several underperforming titles, casting a shadow over the company's recent performance. The successful launch of Assassin's Creed Shadows is therefore crucial for Ubisoft's immediate future.
