Attack the Tentacles
Nu Udra is a challenging monster to defeat in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. Its massive tentacles give it a wide reach, making dodging its attacks quite difficult. However, these tentacles are the closest limbs that melee weapon users can target. Severing its arms not only provides extra materials but also reduces its offensive capabilities. Be cautious, though, as these limbs are powerful weapons in their own right.
Aim for the Mouth
For players wielding ranged weapons, there are more attack options available. The most effective target is the mouth, which can be hard to spot due to Nu Udra's nearly pitch-black skin. Despite the challenge, the mouth is a prime target with a 4-star weakness. The head is another viable spot, though it only has a 3-star weakness to ammo damage. It remains a great location for blunt and cut damage.
Use Watermoss
Nu Udra's fire affinity in *Monster Hunter Wilds* makes it a dangerous foe, capable of launching fire attacks and even setting itself ablaze, inflicting the Fireblight debuff. To mitigate this, using Watermoss is highly recommended. Shooting Watermoss at the creature allows you to attack safely without succumbing to the status ailment.
Wear Fire Resistant Gear
If you're struggling in this fight, equipping gear with fire resistance is crucial. The Quematrice armor set is recommended as it comes with the Fire Resistance skill. Additionally, you can enhance your gear with decorations like the Fire Res Jewel to reduce fire damage, or the Stream Jewel to boost your water attack capabilities.
Beware of Grab Attacks
Nu Udra's arsenal includes a particularly dangerous grab attack. If you're too close, it may attempt to capture you with its tentacles, followed by a stream of burning fire. During the brief pause before the fire attack, you can break free using a knife or target its weak spot with a Slinger.

How to Capture Nu Udra in Monster Hunter Wilds
To capture Nu Udra in *Monster Hunter Wilds*, you'll need either a Pitfall or Shock Trap. However, you can't set the trap immediately. First, weaken the monster by attacking it until it's nearly dead, indicated by a skull icon next to the boss icon. You can use meat as bait to lure Nu Udra into the trap, or simply position yourself behind the trap while it's targeting you. Once trapped, quickly use a Tranquilizer to put it to sleep. You have a mere five seconds before the monster breaks free.
That's everything you need to know about defeating and capturing Nu Udra in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. Given the challenge of fighting this monster alone, consider using multiplayer to increase your chances of success.
Monster Hunter Wilds is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
