How Does Dragon Ball Daima’s Finale Explain Goku Never Using Super Saiyan 4 in Super?

by Andrew Mar 18,2025

The climactic battle in Dragon Ball Daima's finale pits Gomah against Goku, who unveils a shocking new form. Naturally, many viewers anticipated an explanation for Super Saiyan 4's absence in Super. So, how does the finale address this?

What Happens With Super Saiyan 4 in Dragon Ball Daima’s Finale?

Episode 19 sees the Z Fighters revert to their adult forms after Glorio's wish. Vegeta's attempt to defeat Gomah, even as a Super Saiyan 3, fails. Goku then unleashes the power Neva granted him, revealed as "Super Saiyan 4."

In this form, Goku battles Gomah, holding his own. A powerful Kamehameha blasts a hole through Gomah and the Demon Realm, allowing Piccolo to strike a decisive blow. While Piccolo doesn't finish Gomah, Majin Kuu delivers the final attacks, freeing the Demon Realm.

Here's where things get interesting. Instead of explaining Super Saiyan 4 as Demon Realm-exclusive or Neva-specific, Goku reveals he achieved the form simply through post-Buu training. No mind-wipe occurs, leaving Daima's canonicity ambiguous.

Is Dragon Ball Daima Canon to Super?

Ultra Instinct Goku Dragon Ball Super as part of an article about Super Saiyan 4 in Daima.

Super Saiyan 4's introduction raises significant questions about Daima's place within the Dragon Ball canon. Goku's failure to use this incredibly powerful form against Beerus in Super, especially with Earth's fate at stake, is jarring. While forgetting it is possible, Vegeta's reaction to being surpassed again seems improbable.

However, a post-credits scene offers a potential escape route. Two more Evil Third Eyes remain in the Demon Realm. A future season, involving these objects falling into the wrong hands, could provide a mechanism for Super Saiyan 4's return and subsequent loss by Goku. This remains speculation, but its absence creates a significant plot hole.

And that's Dragon Ball Daima's explanation for Goku's lack of Super Saiyan 4 in Super. For those curious, you can also check out the anime's intro song.
