FromSoftware has thrilled fans by sending out confirmation emails for the upcoming Elden Ring Nightreign Network Test. The excitement is palpable as players eagerly share their confirmation emails, celebrating their selection for this exclusive playtest. Announced via FromSoftware's Twitter (X) on January 30, 2025, the emails mark a significant step toward the game's release.

Participants who received the initial confirmation will receive a follow-up email on February 11, 2025, containing a unique code for downloading the Network Test client. This test will be available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Registration for the network test was open from January 10 to January 20, 2025, leaving those who didn't receive an email eagerly awaiting any news of additional test dates.

Elden Ring Nightreign Scalpers and Scammers Already on the Loose

The purpose of the Elden Ring Nightreign Network Test, as stated by FromSoftware, is to conduct "preliminary verification" by having selected testers play a portion of the game before its official launch. This test will focus on "various technical verifications of online systems" through large-scale network load tests, ensuring the servers can handle multiple players effectively.

Scheduled from February 14 to February 16, 2025, the network test will feature five 3-hour sessions, allowing participants ample opportunity to experience and provide feedback on the game:

  • Session 1 - February 14th from 3 AM to 6 AM PT
  • Session 2 - February 14th from 7 PM to 10 PM PT
  • Session 3 - February 15th from 11 AM to 2 PM PT
  • Session 4 - February 16th from 3 AM to 6 AM PT
  • Session 5 - February 16th from 7 PM to 10 PM PT

Scammers and Scalpers Already On The Move

Amidst the excitement, a concerning issue has arisen: scammers are already exploiting the anticipation for the Elden Ring Nightreign Network Test. Reports indicate a scam on Steam where players receive fake invites that redirect them to malicious pages, compromising their accounts and spamming their friends with the same scam. FromSoftware has emphasized that all official communications for the playtest will only come through their website and social media accounts, warning players to avoid links from other sources.

Additionally, scalpers have jumped into action, listing "confirmed test codes" for sale on various online marketplaces. Despite the codes not being available until February 11, these listings are asking for exorbitant prices ranging from $150 to $200, with some even being auctioned off.

Elden Ring Nightreign was first unveiled at The Game Awards 2024, slated for release on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. While FromSoftware has confirmed a 2025 release window, the exact date remains undisclosed.
