Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack adds two classic F-Zero GBA racers!
Get ready to experience high-speed thrills! Nintendo has announced the arrival of two fantastic F-Zero Game Boy Advance titles to the Switch Online + Expansion Pack service, launching October 11, 2024.
The additions include F-Zero: GP Legend and the previously Japan-exclusive F-Zero Climax. This marks a significant event, as F-Zero Climax has been unavailable outside of Japan for nearly two decades.
This futuristic racing franchise, initially launched in 1990, has a rich history of pushing gaming boundaries. Known for its breakneck speeds and intense competition, F-Zero inspired other racing games, including SEGA's Daytona USA. The series' signature gameplay involves navigating challenging tracks, battling opponents in your powerful "F-Zero machine," and striving for victory. Captain Falcon, the series' iconic protagonist, even makes appearances in the Super Smash Bros. franchise!
F-Zero: GP Legend, released in 2003 (Japan) and 2004 (West), and F-Zero Climax, released in 2004 (Japan only), will offer a variety of game modes, including Grand Prix, story modes, and time trials. The inclusion of F-Zero Climax is particularly exciting, making it accessible to a global audience for the first time. Game designer Takaya Imamura previously cited the success of Mario Kart as a contributing factor to the F-Zero series' relative dormancy.
This October 2024 update to the Switch Online + Expansion Pack is a welcome addition for racing fans and retro gaming enthusiasts alike. Prepare for some intense, futuristic racing action!
