PlayStation Productions Unveils Ambitious Slate of Game Adaptations at CES 2025
PlayStation Productions made a significant splash at CES 2025, announcing a wave of new game adaptations slated for release in 2025 and beyond. The announcements, made on January 7th, 2025, included anime series, films, and a new season of a popular TV show.
New Adaptations Announced:
- Ghost of Tsushima: Legends (Anime Series): A new anime series based on the popular Ghost of Tsushima multiplayer mode, Legends, is in development with Crunchyroll and Aniplex, set for exclusive premiere on Crunchyroll in 2027. Takanobu Mizumo will direct, with Gen Urobuchi handling story composition. Sony Music will contribute the soundtrack.

Horizon Zero Dawn (Film): Sony Pictures will produce a film adaptation of Horizon Zero Dawn.

Helldivers 2 (Film): Columbia Pictures will handle the film adaptation of Helldivers 2. Details on both films remain scarce.

The Last of Us Season Two (TV Series): Neil Druckmann revealed a new trailer for Season Two of The Last of Us, expanding on the story from The Last of Us Part II and introducing characters like Abby and Dina.
Past Adaptations and Future Projects:
PlayStation Productions has a track record of successful video game adaptations, including the Uncharted film (2022) and the Gran Turismo film (2023), both of which exceeded box office expectations. They also produced the Twisted Metal series (Peacock, 2023), with a second season currently in post-production.
Beyond the CES 2025 announcements, PlayStation Productions is also developing film adaptations of Days Gone and a sequel to the Uncharted film, as well as a God of War TV series.
The continued success of PlayStation Productions' adaptations suggests a growing trend of expanding popular video game franchises into other media formats.
