Navigating the expansive and often desolate Synthwave world of the Overgrowth in Hyper Light Breaker can be challenging. However, the game provides a solution from the outset: the Hyper Light Breaker Hoverboard. This versatile tool not only serves as your sprint mechanic but also enhances your movement speed, allowing you to cover vast distances efficiently as your Energy depletes gradually. This guide will walk you through summoning your Hoverboard and highlight its unique features that extend beyond mere transportation.

How To Summon A Hoverboard In Hyper Light Breaker

To summon your Hoverboard and sprint, simply hold down the Dodge input in Hyper Light Breaker. Your Breaker will dash forward and seamlessly transition onto the Hoverboard as long as you maintain the Dodge input.

Controlling the Hoverboard is straightforward. By tilting the left analog stick, you can lean the board and turn in the desired direction. The speed at which you're traveling affects your turning radius; at maximum speed, turns are slower, while at lower speeds, you have better control.

To dismount the Hoverboard, release the Dodge input. Additionally, the Hoverboard will automatically de-summon if your Energy is depleted while riding.

Keep an eye on your Energy level, which is displayed next to your Breaker's companion during Hoverboard or Glider use. If your Energy runs low, take a moment to jump off and let it recover to avoid an unexpected dismount.

Hoverboard Movement Tips & Special Uses

While the Hoverboard in Hyper Light Breaker doesn't allow for tricks or combat, it offers several unique features and uses. Notably, the Hoverboard can float on water, enabling you to traverse inlets and rivers across the Overgrowth. Remember, you must be on the Hoverboard before entering the water; it won't summon while you're submerged. Regardless of your entry speed or jump height, the Hoverboard will quickly resurface, allowing you to continue your journey smoothly.

Additionally, while riding, you can hold down the Jump input to duck and prepare for a jump. Although you can't double-jump on the Hoverboard, the increased speed can help you leap across larger gaps. Ducking doesn't boost your speed or jump height, but it aids in timing your jumps accurately for those challenging maneuvers.
