Tomb Raider's iconic heroine, Lara Croft, is officially joining the cast of Dead by Daylight, Behaviour Interactive has revealed. This highly anticipated addition, following recent chapters featuring Vecna and Chucky, brings one of gaming's most enduring characters to the Entity's Realm.
The announcement confirms long-standing fan speculation. Dead by Daylight players can expect Lara Croft, modeled after the 2013 Survivor trilogy reboot, to arrive on all platforms July 16th. PC players on Steam will gain early access via a public test build. While a gameplay trailer remains unreleased, Behaviour Interactive describes Lara as "the ultimate survivor," a fitting title given her history of daring adventures.
The Lara Croft addition was revealed alongside other exciting Dead by Daylight 8th-anniversary announcements: a new 2v8 game mode, a chapter based on Castlevania, and a collaboration with Supermassive Games featuring Frank Stone from The Quarry.
This news coincides with renewed interest in the Tomb Raider franchise. Aspyr recently released a remastered collection of the original trilogy, and a PS5 port of Tomb Raider: Legend is also available (though reception has been mixed). Further fueling the Lara Croft resurgence is an upcoming animated series, Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft, slated for October 2024, with Hayley Atwell voicing the lead role.
