Street Fighter 6 welcomes a new fighter, reigniting player interest. The latest addition is Mai Shiranui, a popular character from SNK's Fatal Fury franchise.
Capcom's Street Fighter 6, a resounding success, boasts impressive sales figures – 4.4 million copies sold by December 31, 2024. While some fans have expressed concerns about the game's content updates, the introduction of Mai Shiranui has proven a significant boost.
Mai Shiranui, the third character in the game's second season pass, has dramatically increased Street Fighter 6's player base. Steam's peak concurrent player count surged past 63,000 on her release day, a substantial increase from the previous peak of 24-27,000 – the highest since May 2024.
Access to Mai is granted through the game's Battle Pass. World Tour mode allows players to build relationships with Mai, learn her unique moves, and then put their skills to the test in Battle Hub. A second costume, inspired by her appearance in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, has also been added.
The Battle Hub also features a temporary guest character: Professor Woshige, a renowned fighting game developer. Players can experience his unique fighting style until March 10th. Further updates include new Master League ranks and rewards.
Capcom released a dedicated trailer showcasing Mai Shiranui's impressive fighting techniques.
