What's the Buzz?
Metal Slug: Awakening is a modern reboot of the beloved '90s franchise. Initially revealed in 2020 by TiMi Studios as Metal Slug Code: J, the game has seen some delays and name changes. Following its Southeast Asia launch in late 2023, it's finally ready for a worldwide release.
For those unfamiliar (though we doubt there are many!), the Metal Slug series is a Japanese run-and-gun game, debuting in 1996. Created by Nazca Corporation, it's since evolved into a multimedia phenomenon.
While Metal Slug has seen mobile releases before (Metal Slug Defense, Metal Slug Attack, and Metal Slug Commander), Awakening promises a significant upgrade.
The game stays true to its roots with classic shooter gameplay, but boasts enhanced visuals and new mechanics. Expect to see familiar faces and embark on fresh missions. Features include a World Adventure mode, 3-player cooperative team-up action, and challenging Roguelike game modes.
