Hashino, when discussing future projects, expressed interest in developing a game set during Japan's Sengoku period. He envisions this historical setting as ideal for a new Japanese role-playing game (JRPG), potentially drawing inspiration from the Basara series.

Currently, there are no concrete plans to create a Metaphor: ReFantazio sequel. However, Hashino emphasized his commitment to completing the current project. He revealed that the game was originally conceived as the third major JRPG series for Atlus, following Persona and Shin Megami Tensei, aiming to become a flagship title for the company.

While a direct sequel is unlikely, the team is already working on their next game. An anime adaptation of Metaphor: ReFantazio, Atlus' most successful platform launch to date, is under consideration.

The game's peak concurrent player count reached an impressive 85,961, surpassing the concurrent player counts of Persona 5 Royal (35,474) and Persona 3 Reload (45,002). Metaphor: ReFantazio is available on PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
