Square Enix has just released SaGa Frontier 2: Remastered across multiple platforms, including mobile devices. First hitting the PlayStation in Japan in 1999 and later in North America and Europe in 2000, this remastered version brings the game back to life with enhanced graphics and additional content.

SaGa Frontier 2 unfolds in the mystical realm of Sandail, where magic operates through a force known as Anima. The game's narrative primarily follows two protagonists: Gustave, a royal who struggles with his inability to wield magic, and William Knights, a young explorer from a lineage of diggers searching for ancient artifacts called Quells.
Gustave's tale begins with his exile from the Kingdom of Finney due to his lack of magical talent—a significant disadvantage in a society where Anima is revered. On the other hand, William's quest is driven by the need to uncover the truth behind his parents' mysterious demise and the enigmatic relic known as the Egg, which has the power to manipulate minds.
SaGa Frontier 2: Remastered boasts upgraded graphics with higher resolutions, enhancing the original's watercolor backgrounds to stunning clarity. The user interface has also been revamped for improved navigation, all while preserving the game's classic feel.

What Else Is New?

The combat system remains a highlight, featuring three distinct types of battles: Party Battles, Duels, and Warfare. Party Battles follow the traditional RPG format, whereas Duels are intense one-on-one confrontations where strategy is key.
Warfare, on the other hand, offers large-scale strategic clashes, ensuring that combat remains engaging and varied. The remaster also revives the glimmer system, allowing players to learn new techniques during battles, and the combo mechanic, which rewards players for executing coordinated attacks with their team.
