Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

A recently uploaded video ingeniously transforms The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom into a Super Mario Galaxy experience. Released in May 2023, Tears of the Kingdom, the sequel to 2017's Breath of the Wild, is the latest in Nintendo's acclaimed Zelda series. Often compared to other Nintendo hits like Pokémon Scarlet and Violet and various Super Mario titles, Tears of the Kingdom's gameplay has now been creatively juxtaposed with Super Mario Galaxy.

A gamer, Ultrababouin, showcased this clever comparison in a Reddit post featuring their video, "Super Zelda Galaxy." The edit masterfully incorporates references to the beloved 2007 Wii game, Super Mario Galaxy, evoking nostalgia among many viewers. The recreation of Super Mario Galaxy's iconic opening sequence, featuring Mario's awakening and encounter with a Luma, is a particularly striking example.

This impressive fan-made "Super Zelda Galaxy" montage, taking almost a month to produce, was submitted to the Hyrule Engineering subreddit – a community dedicated to Tears of the Kingdom creations – as an entry in their June design contest. Ultrababouin, a prolific builder previously recognized as Engineer of the Month (December and February), has also crafted other notable recreations, including a Tears of the Kingdom version of the Master Cycle Zero from Breath of the Wild.

The innovative build system in Tears of the Kingdom, absent in its predecessor, allows for the construction of complex vehicles and machines. This has led to remarkable player creations, such as a fully functional aircraft carrier with a deployable bomber, showcasing the game's impressive creative potential.

The next Zelda installment, Echoes of Wisdom, slated for release on September 26th, marks a departure from the series' tradition. Instead of Link, this game will feature the princess Zelda as the protagonist.
