One Piece Star Mackenyu Arata Voicing Gennojo in Assassin’s Creed Shadows
Mackenyu Arata, the acclaimed Japanese actor known for his portrayal of Roronoa Zoro in Netflix's One Piece, joins the cast of Ubisoft's highly anticipated Assassin’s Creed Shadows. He'll be voicing Gennojo, a key character in this feudal Japan-set installment of the acclaimed RPG series, in both Japanese and English.
Ubisoft describes Gennojo as a crucial character who assists the protagonist in eliminating a significant target. He's characterized as a charming yet reckless individual, deeply conflicted and driven by guilt to reform a corrupt system. Ubisoft further elaborates: "He's a flirtatious rogue and a trickster, always walking the line with a mix of wit, deceit, and swagger. Motivated by a deep desire to bring down a corrupt system, Gennojo is willing to risk everything, even his own life, to achieve his goal. Despite his rough exterior, he holds a strong sense of justice, especially when it comes to helping the poor and elderly."
While the exact point of Gennojo's introduction remains undisclosed, his importance to the game's missions is confirmed. According to Mackenyu himself, Gennojo is a member of the "Shinobi League," and players can essentially recruit him as a companion throughout their journey.
