Split Fiction Hits 2 Million Sales After Just 1 Week

by Mila Mar 22,2025

Hazelight Games' latest cooperative adventure, Split Fiction, is enjoying a phenomenal launch, selling 2 million copies in its first week. Released on March 6th for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, the dual-protagonist story has quickly become another triumph for the studio. Hazelight expressed their delight on social media, stating they are "blown away" by the overwhelming support from fans.

Just 48 hours after launch, Split Fiction had already sold 1 million copies, meaning another million units were sold in the following five days. The game's co-op nature means the actual player count is significantly higher than the sales figures. This is further amplified by the game's "Friend's Pass" feature, allowing one player to purchase the game and grant free access to a friend. With continued social media buzz, the 2 million sales mark is sure to climb even higher.

This success mirrors that of Hazelight's previous title, It Takes Two, the 2021 Game of the Year winner. It Takes Two sold approximately 1 million copies within weeks of its March 2021 launch, eventually reaching 10 million copies by February 2023 and an impressive 20 million by October 2024.

In IGN's review of Split Fiction, the game was lauded as "an expertly crafted co-op adventure that pinballs from one genre extreme to another."
