Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Adds Classic Infection and Nuketown Modes

Just days after its launch, Black Ops 6 is boosting its content with the highly anticipated return of two fan-favorite modes: Infection and Nuketown. This follows a recent update addressing various post-launch bugs.

Treyarch, the developer, announced via Twitter (X) that the thrilling Infected mode arrives tomorrow, followed by the iconic Nuketown map on November 1st. Infected, a staple of the Call of Duty franchise, pits players against AI-controlled zombie opponents in a desperate survival struggle.

Nuketown, a beloved map since its debut in Call of Duty: Black Ops (2010), provides a fast-paced, action-packed experience set in a 1950s-inspired nuclear test site. This addition underscores Activision's commitment to delivering regular post-launch content updates. Black Ops 6, launched October 25th, initially featured 11 standard multiplayer modes, including variations with disabled Scorestreaks and a Hardcore mode.

Recent Patch Addresses Multiple Issues

A recent update tackled several issues across multiplayer and Zombies modes. Significant improvements include boosted XP and weapon XP rates in Team Deathmatch, Control, Search & Destroy, and Gunfight. Activision confirmed ongoing monitoring of XP rates across all modes to ensure balanced progression. Key fixes included:

  • Global: Resolved loadout highlighting, Bailey operator animation glitches, and the "Mute Licensed Music" setting functionality.
  • Maps: Addressed exploits allowing players to leave designated play areas on Babylon, Lowtown, and Red Card maps; improved Red Card stability; and fixed general in-game interaction stability issues.
  • Multiplayer: Improved matchmaking to swiftly replace players who leave matches; prevented Private Match forfeits with zero players on a team; and silenced the persistent Dreadnought missile sound effect.

Further updates are planned to address remaining issues, such as the reported death upon loadout selection in Search & Destroy. Despite these minor post-launch hiccups, Black Ops 6 is widely considered a top-tier Call of Duty title, particularly praising its enjoyable campaign.
